Smaller JPGs for web, email and storage

Camera and phone photos are saved at very high quality settings, which wastes space. Aivdo re-encodes them with MozJPEG, the JPEG encoder built by Mozilla to squeeze more quality out of every byte.

Smart mode searches for the lowest quality setting that still matches the original by SSIM, so you get the smallest file that looks the same. Photo orientation is applied and private camera metadata (EXIF, GPS) is removed.

Need it even smaller? Choose WebP or AVIF output to cut photo size roughly in half again.

    1. Drop your JPG or JPEG files above.
    2. Choose Extreme, Recommended or Less compression.
    3. Save the compressed photos.

    FAQ

Does Aivdo remove EXIF and GPS data?

Yes. Compressed photos do not include camera metadata or location data.

What is the difference between JPG and JPEG?

None. They are two file extensions for the same format, and Aivdo handles both.

    Are my files uploaded?

No. Compression runs in your browser, so your files never leave your device. Aivdo only counts anonymous usage (country, file type and sizes). File names and contents are never sent.

Which compression level should I pick?

Recommended keeps files looking the same and suits almost everything. Extreme and Maximum make files much smaller but lower the quality, which is handy for email limits. Maximum tries several settings on PDFs and keeps the smallest valid file.

    Which browsers work?

Images and PDFs work in every modern browser. Video needs Chrome, Edge or Safari 17 or newer.

    Is there a size limit?

No fixed limit. Very large videos (over about 1–2 GB) can run out of browser memory, so split those first.

What if a file can't get smaller?

Aivdo keeps the original and tells you. You never get back a bigger file.
